A century ago this month, the building on Havemeyer Place that was constructed as a Masonic temple was dedicated.
Ezekiel Lemondale (also known as Judge Frederick A. Hubbard) and his friend "Mr. Parker" went for a drive south of the Post Road (East Putnam Avenue), describing "a six-mile ride over a shady, rustic and historic road, and tells who lives along the way." Read the text here.

That same year, a unique steam-powered car arrived in Greenwich that furnished power -and roasted peanuts.
