Col. Raynal C. Bolling's statue in front of the
Havemeyer Building off Greenwich Avenue.

'Bolling Statue A Work of Art' proclaimed the Greenwich News and Graphic on November 19, 1920. "It was about a year ago that E.C. otter, the noted sculptor, of Greenwich, began the work on a statue of the late Col. Raynal C. Bolling, one of the first prominent American victims of the world war, who was killed by a German bullet while performing a valiant service for his country."

Bolling is also known in Greenwich for Greyledge, one of the town's "Great Estates."

A century ago, in January, 1924, Lucian P. Edwards published a piece in his column, Greenwich Life As It Is-And Was on Greenwich's private schools.

A battleship like this anchored in Greenwich Harbor.

In August, 1916, the people of Greenwich learned, "the torpedo boat destroyer Sampson, one of the newest craft in the United States Navy, was anchored in Greenwich Harbor over the weekend, and hundreds of persons took advantage of the opportunity to inspect one of the units in Uncle Sam's great fleet of sea fighters." Sailors donned in USN uniforms were much in evidence on the streets of Greenwich, while officers were entertained at the Indian Harbor Yacht Club

Sketch artist and author Whitman Bailey introduced his readers to Judge George W. Brush and Joseph E.B. Brush, Characters About Town in Days Gone By.

Greenwich's Police Department was founded in 1906. History is replete with wrongdoings and misdeeds -and you’ll hear about those on Crimes and Misdemeanors. In today's show? Bootleggers.

You’ve come to the right place to learn about the history of the Town of Greenwich, Connecticut, one of America's most extraordinary communities.

We’ll have all this -and more- as our history continues to unfold.
