Greenwich’s history is a rich one and it is always worth learning about how it was impacted during the Revolutionary War.
A lecture series on the overall significance of the war “Reflections on the Revolution” will begin this coming Saturday, Jan. 18, as a complement to the Historical Society’s exhibition “Greenwich During the Revolutionary War: A Frontier Town on the Front Line.”
On Saturday, starting at 2 p.m. inside the Historical Society’s barn, R. Scott Stephenson, Ph. D., and president and CEO of the Philadelphia-based Museum of the American Revolution will give the first lecture in the three-part series.
As America approaches its 250th birthday in 2026, he will focus on the upcoming exhibits at the museum and why the fight for American independence is still relevant today.
The Greenwich Historical Society’s exhibit on the Revolutionary War will run through June and there will be two more lecturers to follow.
On Feb. 8, a virtual lecture from Akeia de Barros Gomez will focus on Understanding Black and Indigenous Land and Waterscapes in American History.
On March 8, Katherine Hermes will discuss Working for the Revolution: Patriot Women’s Lives During the War.
