Who was Henry Martyn Benedict? He was once a prominent citizen and Warden of what was the Borough of Greenwich. A source related that he was fond of exploring the New Burial Grounds Cemetery next to the Second Congregational Church -and where he and his wife are buried.
Though not as famous as his brother, Commodore E.C. Benedict, he "was one of the earliest to recognize the advantages of Greenwich as a place of residence and to foresee its future importance as a suburb of New York."
You'll learn what happened in Greenwich in Year 1934.
We'll have news of crimes, accidents, announcements, events and so much more as our history continues to unfold.
At last, Bush Holley House re-opens to the public on April 21st!
Mark your calendars for the festivities with the Greenwich Historical Society.
Sail away with gifts for everyone from the Greenwich Historical Society's Museum Store. Order online and we'll ship directly to you or your loved one. Enjoy complimentary gift wrapping, too.
